March 29, 2010— -- Some people will have to wait a little longer to get their iPads. The device goes on sale Saturday but will take an extra week to get to anyone who wants it shipped directly. Pre-orders placed now won't ship until April 12, Apple officials said. Customers who ordered by March 27 will still get their iPads Saturday. You can also still pre-order for in-store pick-up this Saturday, or just buy it at the store that day.

E-bay is going high-fashion. The auction site is launching a new feature today called Fashion Vault. According to the Wall Street Journal, it will sell designs from top brands in flash sales, sort of the online equivalent of one-off sample sales. Items will be offered with discounts starting at 50 percent off retail for a limited time. The first such sale will feature items from French Connection.

Google says it will decide by the end of the year where it will build its ultra-high speed broadband network. The search giant says response to its plan has been "tremendous." More than 1,100 communities and 190,000 individuals responded, hoping to have the network built in their area. Google plans to deliver broadband service up to 300 times faster than most people currently get, to as many as 500,000 Americans.

A new iPhone app can help you keep your personal life and business life separate. Line2 adds a second line to the device. The app lets you manage separate contact lists, and features visual voice mail, call forwarding and conference calling. It also lets users set up rules for incoming calls, allowing you to do things like send all business calls direct to voice mail after 7 p.m. Line2 costs $15 a month, but it could potentially save you money by placing calls over Wi-Fi, which cuts down on minutes used.
