Nov. 25, 2010— -- Facebook has moved a step closer to trademarking the word "face." The social networking giant's application has advanced in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but it won't be able to stop anyone from using the word. The trademark only applies to telecommunications services, mainly online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards.

Tablet computers are sure to top many wish lists this holiday season. According to one survey, Apple's iPad ranks number one among kids aged six to 12. But the iPad is not your only option. The New York Times Nick Bilton has some advice if you're thinking about buying a tablet.

"If you want an iPad for example, it can essentially become a computer-like experience for you," Bilton said. "If you want something that's just there to read books, you'll be able to spend a lot less money and purchase either a Nook or a Kindle or something along those lines." The Kindle is already the most gifted product on Amazon.
