Dec. 8, 2009 — -- Compiling a list of the top stories of a decade is never an easy task, and limiting 10 years to just 100 "top" or "most memorable" moments invariably leads to second guessing.

The ABCNews.com list is not meant as a definitive chronicle, but more of a guide through the stories and moments that shaped our lives during the decade. There are certainly many more that are just as deserving and influential.
