— -- Looks like the PlayStation 3 has another first-person hit on its hands with Killzone 2, out Feb. 27.

Following on last fall's Resistance 2, this sci-fi shooter sequel takes place two years after the events in the original 2004 PlayStation 2 game and the subsequent 2006 PlayStation Portable game Killzone: Liberation.

"In the original Killzone we dealt with a brutal invasion from our nemesis on our home planet and in Killzone 2 we are actually taking the war back to their home planet in a pre-emptive strike," says Hermen Hulst, managing director of Amsterdam-based Guerrilla Games, the Sony-owned developer of the games.

Matt Miller of Game Informer writes on gameinformer.com that "Killzone 2 is the best-looking shooter on the PS3, which puts it in the running for best looking shooter ever. The campaign never ceases overloading your senses with constant action, and the chaos outdoes most games on the market."

You play as Sev, "a battle-hardened soldier" of the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance special forces deployment invading Helghan. "You feel you are going to be in and out maybe in three weeks, but somebody forgot to tell the (occupying) Helghast it was going to be easy," Hulst says.
