Interpol Steps Up Cybercrime Site

The international police organization Interpol has stepped up its action against cybercrime with a new section on its Web site on how to combat malicious computer viruses.

“Transnational crime of this nature can be particularly difficult to investigate,” Interpol’s Secretary-General Ronald Noble said in a statement today.

“Computer viruses are a real threat. Our virus alert section will enable computer users to keep up to date,” Noble said in the statement, released by Interpol’s Lyon headquarters.

The section, available via, includes a checklist to help companies assess whether they have sufficient safeguards in place.

The section also lists the names of known viruses that are spread as electronic mail attachments.
