July 18, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, wireless could mean jobless. Consumers might be lining up to buy smartphones, tablet computers and their applications, but employment in the wireless industry keeps shrinking.

The Wall Street Journal reports there are now 20,000 fewer jobs than two years ago.

It's the result of consolidation, outsourcing and skyrocketing productivity.

Bus Stop Charging Stations

Commuters in several U.S. cities will now be able to charge their devices while waiting at the bus stop, thanks to ads for Vitamin Water.

They're equipped with USB ports to "plug" the benefits of the energy drink.

These charging stations can be found in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago.

Samsung has been offering this service in airports, but bus shelters are a new "outlet."

Search Engines and Memory

According to a new study, using search engines can actually affect your memory. Scientists found that people are less likely to remember information if they know that they can easily access it online.
