Dec. 7, 2008 — -- Here's a roundup of the late-night comics.

Leno: And this week, they will flip the switch on the White House Christmas tree, which has over 25,000 lights on it -- one light for every CEO that's looking for a bailout.

Colbert: I say India should respond to this attack from Pakistan the same way we did when we were attacked … invade an unrelated country! Let's say … New Zealand.

Leno: I am no political expert. I don't pretend to know much about international affairs, but speaking strictly as a late-night talk show host, a Clinton back in office? Yes!

Seth Meyers: Barack Obama announced Wednesday that New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is his choice for secretary of commerce, which should be an easy job now that there isn't any.

Announcer: All three CEOs have agreed to work for a dollar a year. Stewart: Really!? A dollar a year? Well, my friends … [reaches into coat pocket and pulls out a five dollar bill] ... Abraham Lincoln over here was wondering if … you'd like to come work for me.

Colbert: And plenty of people have said nice things about [Obama]. George F. Will: "He's minding his real business, which is a transition that's occurring fast." Sen. Richard Lugar: "I think it will be a strong team." Torie Clarke: "Several decades from now, if not sooner, people will look back on this transition and say 'it was the most effective ever,' and it will set the standard for all other transitions."

[PETER GABRIEL MUSIC PLAYS] "In your eyes, the light the heat..."

Colbert: I believe that was George Stephanopoulos at the end.
