On Friday, a New York jury convicted Martha Stewart of obstructing justice and lying to the government about her sale of ImClone Systems Inc. stock in late 2001. In court, Martha Stewart remained silent, but talk radio shouted, and listeners spoke out on WMAL-AM in Washington, D.C.

Voice 1: "I can't believe that Martha Stewart is the only human being on Wall Street in the past three years that got insider information."

Voice 2: "I think the whole thing is to make an example out of her. It's a slap in the face to women in general simply because there are so many men who have done far worse, and they get by with it."

Voice 3: "Women have achieved or obtained the positions that men have traditionally held in business. And they are capable of committing the same crimes that men have. And you don't excuse bad behavior by pointing to the worse behavior of others."

Voice 4: "I don't think she is going to go to jail at all. I don't even think it is going to happen. But I really feel that if the prosecution follows through with this to the fullest this also adds a little credibility to our government."

Voice 5: "She'll be in a country club, and I really wish they would make her actually do some dirty community service. I'd like to see her working in a soup kitchen to be honest with you."

Voice 6: "The whole thing makes me sad. She had everything going for her. She had millions. She had an incredible company. She had a TV show and a magazine, and what more do you need?"
