'(500) Days' of movie locations in L.A.

— -- It hasn't sunk its teeth into American pop culture as much as Twilight, but (500) Days of Summer— about a mismatched romance — is attracting a devoted following.

Visitors are seeking out spots in the movie, set in L.A. "We're finding that Tom's bench (at Angels Knoll downtown) is the newest tourist destination for movie buffs," says Harry Medved, Fandango.com spokesman and author of Hollywood Escapes. "They're walking in the footsteps of the film's main characters," Summer and Tom, played by Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Other sites include the Barclay Hotel (serving as a café where Tom hangs out) and pre-World War II buildings, which fascinate architect wannabe Tom.

Sunday's tour of (500) Days locations, led by the film's assistant location manager and Medved, sold out. It's to raise awareness of The Los Angeles Conservancy, which helps preserve historic buildings.
