— -- Had enough of travel "best" lists? TitanicAwards.com zeros in on what travel writers and high-profile travelers really thought about places-flights-meals-airports-toilets and the like.

"A good vacation doesn't make a very compelling travel story," says Doug Lansky, the freelance travel writer who launched the site. "It's far more entertaining to pull out the (negative) side of travel. It's been neglected for so long."

Besides the Twitter-size gripes, Lansky also posts YouTube videos of travel gone wrong and combs travel lists for the also-rans and never-arrived. And there's his world's-worst-travel survey, which invites readers to vote on topics such as the worst cruise line or the lamest TV travel personality.

"There's just too much carrot in this industry and not enough stick," Lansky says. "This is a fun way to hold their feet to the fire."
