Phoenix Sky Harbor offers parking discount at close-in lots

— -- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is offering a parking discount at its terminal garages during August to attract more cars to the close-in lots.

The airport offered the coupon for three days during the Fourth of July weekend. It's back for a full month, with $10 off the usual $25 daily fee at the terminal lots. Economy lots cost $8-10 a day.

Airport spokeswoman Deborah Ostreicher said air travel is down about 10% this year and summer is typically slow for business travel. "Those two things combined have left a lot of open spaces in the terminal garages," she said.

Parking revenue is a key piece of Sky Harbor's budget, so filling the lots is important. The terminal lots also are being pitched as time savers and heat beaters for summer travelers.
