Miami Dolphin Brandon Marshall Stabbed by Wife

April 23, 2011— -- Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall is recovering on Saturday after authorities say he was stabbed by his wife Michi Nogami-Marshall in the abdomen.
Nogami-Marshall, 26, was arrested Friday night and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; she was released on a $7,500 bail the next day.
According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Marshall, 27, initially told police that he fell onto a broken glass vase, but they did not find blood near the area of the vase. When Nogami-Marshall was arrested, she said that she stabbed her husband out of self defense.
Marshall met Nogami while they were students at Central Florida. They dated for two years before marrying in July 2010.
In March 2009, Marshall was arrested on battery charges after a fight with Nogami, who was then his fiancé. The charges were dropped.
The NFL lockout prevents contact between teams and players, but Miami Dolphins officials said they were told by NFL officials their team doctor is allowed to see Marshall and consult with his other doctors, according to The Associated Press.
"We are aware of the report, and our thoughts are with Brandon at this time. We will look into the matter, but because we are not allowed to have any contact with any of our players we will refrain from making any further comment," read a Dolphins statement.
