— -- ABC News Meteorologist Melissa Griffin explains how this week's weather forecast could affect the fantasy football league.

Texans vs. Packers in Green Bay

In typical Green Bay fashion, it will be very cold with the chance of a rain/snow mix there Sunday afternoon. During the game, the wind chill will struggle to get above the freezing mark. Not good news for the Texans, a dome team coming from a warm climate.

Bet that Aaron Rodgers will be anything but scared of the cold; after finally breaking a four-game losing streak and beating the Eagles in Philadelphia last Monday, he’s ready to come back strong at home and that means a lot of passing.

So, Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams are strong starters this week. DeAndre Hopkins hasn’t been his best this season, likely because of a struggling quarterback that has one of the worst passer ratings in the league. Now with the winter weather here in Green Bay, seals the deal to keep Hopkins on the bench this week.

49ers vs. Bears in Chicago

The weather isn’t much different in Chicago on Sunday afternoon with snow, rain, and wind chills near 30 degrees. But it is the windy city, so wind is a factor, too!

The Bears offense has fallen apart, but at least they have Jordan Howard. He’s the lead running back over Jeremy Langford and the team’s best player; start him for the remainder of the season. Aside from the fact that the Niners have lost 10 games straight, now a California team has to play in Chicago in December. Their offense is similar to the Bears; they have one good player and it’s their lead running back Carlos Hyde.

Start him if necessary, but looking at his career stats, he hasn’t played in the cold since his college days at Ohio State.

Panthers vs. Seahawks in Seattle

It’s going to be a wet and slippery day at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night when the Panthers play the Seahawks in Seattle. There is the chance of rain and snow showers throughout the game with temperatures only in the upper 30s.

Cam Newton has not been having a very good year in fantasy, and this week might not be any different against Seattle in the inclement weather. Despite how tough the Seattle secondary is the Panthers will still look to keep the ball on the ground and lean heavily on Jonathon Stewart.

On the other hand, Jimmy Graham is at home and can have a good game even in rain; it also helps that the Panthers allow the second most fantasy points and touchdowns to tight ends.

Here are the top 10 players to start and sit based on the weather this week

Way Back Weather -- the 1975 AFC Championship game between the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game was played in Pittsburgh, which meant a team from California would be playing on frozen AstroTurf at Three Rivers Stadium.

The day before the big game, a tarp was put over the field to protect it from the elements, but it leaked overnight causing moisture to get inside and freeze. The field was at its iciest near the sidelines making it extremely difficult for the Raiders wide receivers to catch the ball on the outside. Head Coach John Madden and Raiders Owner Al Davis were extremely upset about it; Davis even accused the Steelers of freezing the ground on purpose!

The Steelers didn’t have it so easy either though; Lynn Swann had a huge hit, slammed into an icy patch, fumbled the ball and was carted off the field. The game featured 12 turnovers, but in that brutal ice and cold the Steelers were victorious.
