2 Planes Clip Wings at New York's LaGuardia Airport

The planes were on the taxiway when the accident occurred, officials said.

— -- Two airplanes collided into one another today -- clipping wings while on the taxiway at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, officials said.

The accident took place at 11:03 a.m. when the Southwest Airlines plane and American Airlines came into contact, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The planes involved in the incident were Southwest Airlines Flight 449, a Boeing 737 with 143 passengers on board, which sustained damage to its left winglet when it clipped American Airlines Flight 1104, which was holding 149 passengers, officials said.

There were no reports of injuries.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
