— -- Saint Bernards usually have a reputation of rescuing people. But in Virginia, it was the other way around.

According to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, a Saint Bernard was rescued Friday evening after falling into a frozen lake. The Saint Bernard’s owners were reportedly tubing down a hill toward the lake when the dog wandered onto the ice, according to fire and rescue.

The temperature was about 21 degrees with a wind chill of 8 degrees at the time of the rescue.

After its rescue, the Saint Bernard was placed with medic units for drying and rewarming. The dog and its owners were then taken home as the Saint Bernard showed no signs of distress, said fire officials.
