Simon Cowell Gushes About Fatherhood

Feb. 17, 2014 -- After becoming a father for the first time, Simon Cowell seems like a changed man.

The former "American Idol" and "X-Factor" judge took to Twitter shortly after he and his girlfriend welcomed their son, Eric, and he couldn't stop gushing.

"I never knew how much love and pride I would feel," Cowell, 54, wrote next to a portrait of himself with his son.

He also posted a close-up portrait of the newborn, and wrote: "…. now you can see how very handsome little Eric is."

Silverman gave birth to Eric on Friday, and since then, the new family has been happily resting with their baby and two dogs, Diddly and Squiddly. In keeping with their sentimental mindset, Eric was named for Cowell's father, he explained.

"His birthday is going to be very close to my dad's birthday," he said. "So, I think second choice would be Eric."
