-- A winter storm is expected to bring substantial snowfall to parts of the Upper Midwest today, with a burst of snow slated to cover the East Coast in the afternoon and evening.
A band from west-central to northeastern Minnesota could see the heaviest snowfall totals, up to 5 inches, along with whipping winds.
The winter-weary Northeast is bracing for more snow today. More than 100 inches of snow has fallen in Boston this season, with the city less than 4 inches short of surpassing its 20-year snowfall record.
Boston could fall short of the record with Tuesday’s snowfall, but break the record with additional snowfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
While 1-3 inches is possible along the I-95 corridor today, some areas such as Philadelphia and New York City could receive 6-8 inches with Wednesday night’s snowfall.
