June 25 -- Somebody in California woke up $141 million richer today.

One lucky ticket had all six winning numbers in California's Super Lotto Plus drawing on Saturday. It was the largest state lottery jackpot ever. The winner could come forward as soon as today.

The record-breaking prize had people lining up at liquor stores and supermarkets to try their luck, despite the one in 41 million chance of winning.

Residents of Arizona and Nevada trekked across the border to pick their numbers, despite temperatures of over 100 degrees, and at the peak of the Golden State's lottery fever this weekend, 84,000 tickets were sold every minute.

Ultimately, however, the winning ticket came from Union Avenue Liquors in San Jose, Calif., about an hour south of San Francisco.

Alex Wang, the store's owner, said he sold about 12,000 tickets for the game and had no idea who bought the winning ticket.

"It could be anyone who walked in the store," he said.

Regardless of who the winner is, Wang will receive more than $700,000 from the lottery, just for selling the ticket.

$171 Million Could Become Just $50 Million

The jackpot grew to record proportions after nine drawings without a winner.

It can be taken in 26 annual payments, or as a lump sum of $70 million.

And of course taxes will reduce the total further.

If the winner takes the $141 million prize as a single payment, "he's only going to get $50.5 million," said lottery spokesman Sid Ramirez.

The winning numbers were 3, 22, 43, 44, 45, with Meganumber 8.
