Man Accused of Stealing Boxes of Cereal
N A T I C K, Mass., Feb. 24 -- Maybe he was just cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
Police are trying to figure out a motive after they nabbed aWinchester man this week for allegedly shoplifting dozens of boxesof cereal.
Esam Dohan, 29, was arrested Tuesday after police found 265boxes of cereal in his van, The MetroWest Daily News of Framingham, Mass.,reported.
Dohan raised the suspicions of employees at Stop & Shopsupermarket in Natick when he passed through the same checkoutlanes several times in succession, each time purchasing boxes ofcereal.
Police said Dohan stole dozens of additional boxes by hidingthem in cardboard crates and walking out of the store. Police saidthey found his cereal stash after employees called police.
Dohan was charged with shoplifting and receiving stolenproperty. He was freed on $250 cash bail.
He didn't seem to have a favorite brand, and didn't offer anexplanation, police said.
