1. Scots Reject Independence

Scotland won't be leaving the United Kingdom after all.

After weeks of buildup, Scots rejected independence and voted against ending the country's 307-year union with England. The No side won with 55 percent of the vote to 45 for the Yes side.

While voters in Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, voted in favor of independence, voters in the capital of Edinburgh cast their ballots overwhelming against it.

2. Search for Alleged Pa. Cop Shooter Enters 7th Day

The search for a self-taught survivalist and military re-enactor accused of killing a Pennsylvania state trooper and wounding another enters its seventh day today.

Police looking for Eric Frein raced toward an area near the home where he had been living with his parents early Friday morning, closing roads and forcing people who live nearby to head to an emergency shelter.

"When I got here, the state troopers were just flying out of here," said Suzanne Zalebuck.

3. Man Kills Daughter, 6 Grandchildren in Murder-Suicide

A Florida man shot his daughter, then killed his six grandchildren -- ranging in age from 2 to 11 -- before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Department identified the alleged shooter as 51-year-old Don Spirit.

Police said they received a call from the family's home at about 4 p.m., but that no one was alive once they arrived.

4. 'Person of Interest' Sought in Disappearance of University of Virginia Student

A reward totaling $50,000 has been offered for information about missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham and police said they are looking for a man with a slight beer belly who was reportedly seen with the sophomore on the night she vanished.

The police described the person of interest as being a black man in his 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 with a shaved head and goatee. He weighed between 250 to 285 pounds, has a slight beer belly and was wearing black jeans and a white T-shirt, police said.

The description came from another man who was seen on surveillance videos following Graham on the night she disappeared. The "person of interest" is not seen on any surveillance footage.

5. Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Arrive in Stores Today

The big day is here.

Sept. 19 has been circled on the calendar of Apple enthusiasts who woke up in the middle of the night last week to pre-order the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Others have spent days camped outside Apple stores for a chance to be one of the first customers to purchase the new smartphones when the doors open at 8 a.m. local time all across the United States.

Apple said a limited supply of phones will be available in its stores for walk-in customers today -- but they'll likely go fast.
