1. Tropical Storm Isaac Quickly Moves West
Tropical Storm Isaac moved quickly west overnight and will pass south of Puerto Rico later this morning and afternoon. Emergency officials say they will follow standard emergency procedures for evacuation and shelter despite the additional 50,000 visitors expected to be in Tampa, Florida for the Republican National Convention.

2. Former Penn State President Said He'd Have Intervened
Former Penn State President Graham Spanier says he wishes he had known more about former football coach Jerry Sandusky so he could have done something about the child molestation allegations against him. Spanier told ABC News that he would have instinctively intervened had he known about the allegations against Sandusky.

3. Mississippi Reopened After Drought Causes Low Waters
The Mississippi River has been reopened to limited traffic after crews were forced to free a barge that ran aground in low waters due to the extensive drought.

4. Wildfires in Northern California Cause State of Emergency
California Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in three counties in Northern California on Wednesday after wildfires in the area destroyed at least 50 buildings. Some 3,000 people have been evacuated.

5. Black Licorice Warning in California
Customers were warned Wednesday not to eat certain types of black licorice candy after tests showed that products made at a Union City factory contained high levels of lead. According to the California Department of Public Health, Red Vines Black Licorice Twists should not be eaten as they contain levels of lead that exceed state standards.
