— -- A 6-year-old boy is back safe with his mother after a frightening ordeal Tuesday morning.

The incident began when an Arkansas mom was allegedly carjacked as she dropped off her 1-year-old daughter at a day care, ABC Little Rock affiliate KATV reported.

Caterrica Brown was dropping off her daughter at a day care center just before 7 a.m. when a suspicious man approached her, police say.

As she was returning to her car, police say, a man came up behind her and asked her for a ride. When she refused, the man allegedly pulled her out of the car and began to drive off with her 6-year-old son still inside, police told KATV.

Brown told police she grabbed onto the car and the suspect to try to get him to stop, causing her to be struck and dragged by the vehicle until she finally had to let go after suffering an arm injury.

An alert bystander saw the suspect abandon the car about 20 blocks from where the alleged carjacking took place, police say.

The bystander suspected that the man had stolen the vehicle, so he followed him and called 911.

The little boy was found unharmed at a nearby school bus stop, where he ran to join a group of other children. The suspect was also located in the area, KATV reported.

Marvin Reeves, 42, was arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping, and second-degree battery. He has been booked in the Jefferson County jail and it’s unclear whether he has entered a plea.

Brown's purse and its contents were also located.
