Nov. 1, 2010 — -- Voters are lining up at the polls today to decide the contentious 2010 midterm election, while politicians and the reporters who cover them are engaging in that great Election Day tradition -- waiting.

"Election night is great, but election day ... is really long," said ABC's Rick Klein, who'll be anchoring coverage of the returns tonight here on ABCNews.com.

Klein and ABC's political director Amy Walter chatted for an Election Day Conversation on what voters are hoping for as they fill out their ballots.

We posed exactly that question to "World News" viewers on Facebook and Twitter and got plenty of feedback.

"It's time to stop the fighting and take up the business of the people," said Linda Butcher, a voter from Micanopy, Fla. "Remember that they work for us, we don't work for them."

Polls have shown that more than anything else, voters are once again looking for change as a result of today's election.

"I think that the idea of change is as simple as it is complicated, which is they want to see something work," said Walter.

So before you tune in for the results tonight on ABC, we hope you'll watch the Conversation and participate. In one word, tell us what your hope for Washington is in the next two years. Weigh in in the comments below.
