Women dominate in major categories at this year's Grammys
Women occupy nearly all the spots in three of the big four categories this year, including album of the year, song of the year and record of the year.
In the album of the year category, the list of nominees consists predominantly of women, including Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, SZA and the indie group boygenius, which includes Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.
Janelle Monáe, who uses she/her and they/they pronouns, is also nominated in the album of the year and record of the year categories, marking a major moment for non-binary performers.
Joining Monáe in the record of the year category are boygenius, Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Monét, Rodrigo, Swift and SZA.
Del Rey, Swift, Rodrigo, Lipa, Cyrus, SZA and Eilish also dominated the song of the year category.
Jon Batiste is the only male artist who is nominated in each of those categories.
