Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra welcome 1st child via surrogate

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have welcomed their first child via surrogate.

The couple, who married in 2018, announced the exciting news in an Instagram post on Friday.

"We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate," their joint statement read. "We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."

Friends and family were quick to send in their well wishes, including Nick's brothers, Joe and Kevin Jonas, as well as Ryan Tedder and Vanessa Bryant.

The couple have previously been open about their plans to have children.

When asked about growing their family in 2021, Jonas shared: "She is the most important piece of the puzzle, and it's obviously something we hope happens, and god willing, it comes together," he said about his wife to E! News.

"It's going to be a beautiful journey, and I hope for many, or whatever that is," he said. "We'll go figure that out when they get there, but for now it's just about making sure we're good."

Chopra Jonas also told The Sunday Times last year: "I do want children, as many as I can have."
