Alan Cumming Shares What Really Happened Before Shia LaBeouf's 'Cabaret' Arrest
LaBeouf grabbed Cumming during his performance.
— -- Shia LaBeouf explained last week that a boozy afternoon full of misadventures led to his arrest during a Broadway production of "Cabaret."
Now, Alan Cumming, who stars in the show, is describing what the night was like from his vantage point.
"He was just wasted, and he was wasted from the second he walked in," Cumming explained to Conan O'Brien. "So there was an atmosphere when I went down to start the show, everyone was freaking out. There was someone who seemed to be a crazy person shouting and stuff."
Prior to his arrest for causing a disturbance, LaBeouf lit a cigarette and even grabbed Cumming during the show, Cumming said. The Broadway star remembered that moment well, recalling a moment when, as part of the show, he walked among the audience.
"As I walked past him, he was at the table in the end of the row and he, like, whacked me," he said. "He did say the reason he did it is I was the sexiest man he had ever seen."
To that end, Cumming isn't holding a grudge.
"We have all done things where we have been out of it and messed up," he said. "I thought he made a good recovery!"
