'The Bachelor' Recap: Ben and the Bachelorettes Visit Mexico
Bachelor Ben Higgins and the 11 remaining bachelorettes were in Mexico City.
— -- "The Bachelor" went south of the border Monday night, with Ben Higgins and the 11 remaining bachelorettes traveling to Mexico City.
Following their arrival, Amanda, a mother of two children, landed the first one-on-one date. In an awkward moment, Ben decided to interrupt the ladies, including Amanda, as they were sleeping.
Ben and Amanda enjoyed a hot air balloon ride over ancient ruins. Later, she discussed her ex-husband and how their marriage fell apart. She implied that he cheated on her. Ben was understanding, and gave her a rose.
"Please know that anything about you, Amanda, is something that I'm interested in knowing," Ben told his date.
On the group date, nine women joined Ben for Spanish lessons. Afterward, they were divided into teams for a cook-off. Olivia continued to agitate the other bachelorettes by pairing with Ben for the cook-off.
At one point during the group date, Ben had a somewhat tense conversation with Jubilee. She expressed her feeling that they've grown apart, and he was concerned by her behavior, saying it seemed that she was "pulling back."
Ben told Jubilee, "It would be unfair to you right now to say that with what's happened and just kind of how things have progressed with other relationships, it would be unfair of me to tell you that I thought something could exist." With that, he said goodbye to her and she went home.
Following the elimination, Olivia was given the group date rose.
Lauren H. was invited to the second one-on-one date. They met Mexican fashion designer Pineda Covalin, who invited them to his show for Mexico City’s Fashion Week. They were even given the opportunity to walk the runway.
At the cocktail party, Emily broke down in tears as she expressed to Ben how difficult it has been to get along with Olivia. Olivia noticed their interaction and moved quickly to interrupt the two.
Despite Olivia's best efforts, the complaints against her snowballed, and the episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Ben pulling her aside for a chat. We'll find out what happens next Monday night on ABC.
