June 3, 2014 -- Monday night's episode of the ABC series "The Bachelorette" was an emotional one. It marked the final appearance of one of the contestants, Eric Hill. The world explorer died in a paragliding accident in April.

Eric was abruptly dismissed from the competition by "The Bachelorette," Andi Dorfman, after a tense conversation between the two. He claimed to her that there were times when she was putting on a facade in front of the cameras. He declared, "I came here to meet a person, not a TV actress."

Andi was distraught over Eric's comments. She told him that while she encouraged all of the men to be honest with her, his allegation was so insulting to her that she had no choice but to cut ties with him. Eric was seen leaving in a taxi.

Afterward, Andi approached the other guys and cried, "I am exhausted and I have tried so hard...if you don't think this is real, then the door is right there because this is so real to me."

"The Bachelorette" producers opted not to air the ensuing rose ceremony. Instead, an interview with Andi, conducted by host Chris Harrison after Eric's death, was shown.

'Bachelorette' Recap: Andi Goes on a Date With Eric

Andi said she learned the news after her hometown dates. She lamented the fact that she wouldn't have the opportunity to talk with Eric one more time during the "Men Tell All" special, and laugh off their previous conversation.

Calling Eric a "family member" of The Bachelorette franchise, Andi remarked, "To lose somebody puts everything into perspective. It just makes all those little things seem completely irrelevant."

When asked about the circumstances regarding Eric's exit from the competition, Andi said she didn't feel the two were open with one another. She conceded that the way Eric was eliminated was not ideal.

Once the interview concluded, Harrison informed viewers that Tasos was the only man sent home during the rose ceremony.

Andi Dorfman Opens Up About Eric Hill's Death

Monday night's episode -- the second half of a two-night event -- was set in New England. Andi began her adventures there with a one-on-one date with Dylan, a 26-year-old accountant from Boston. They took a ride on a steam train. At dinner, Dylan opened up about his siblings' struggles with drug abuse. Andi was deeply moved, and she gave him a rose.

On her second one-on-one date, Andi rappelled down the glass facade of Mohegan Sun hotel and casino, in Uncasville, Conn., with 25-year-old sports medicine manager Marcus. She was scared, but he talked her through it. He got a rose, too. Afterward, they were serenaded by country singer-songwriter Jon Pardi.

The group date saw 11 men taking on Andi and various WNBA stars in a game of basketball at Mohegan Sun Arena. As you'd expect, the guys embarrassed themselves. The bachelors were then split into two teams that played each other for the right to join Andi at an after-party. Brian, a basketball coach, led his team to victory, and ultimately received the group date rose.

Eleven men remain in the competition. They will travel with Andi to France when "The Bachelorette" resumes on Monday, June 16.
