Cate Blanchett Shares How Sons Are Bonding With Baby Edith
Oscar winner shares how her three sons are bonding with their new sister.
— -- Cate Blanchett loves having a new baby in the house again, especially watching her three sons bond with their little sister.
"They've been extraordinary," she said of sons Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6, to the Sydney Morning Herald. "I find it extraordinary, glimpsing them becoming a unit. And a very welcoming unit. I'm very proud of them."
The two-time Oscar winner and her husband, Andrew Upton, adopted the baby girl earlier this month.
"It's been an absolute gift and we're utterly besotted," she told the Herald.
It turns out that adopting long has been a desire of Blanchett and her husband.
"We've been talking about it since our first son was born," the actress, who currently stars as the evil stepmother in Disney's "Cinderella," told the newspaper.
But they weren't necessarily seeking a daughter.
"Adoption -- the process -- it's pot luck," she said. "It's not about designing a family. It's about welcoming. There's a lot of children out there in need, both children who are up for adoption but also children in the foster system. So it wasn't necessarily about having a girl, but that's what landed in our lap and we feel absolutely blessed."
