Celebrities are among the thousands evacuated in Southern California wildfires

Lea Michele, Chelsea Handler and Rupert Murdoch have all had to evacuate.

— -- Among the tens of thousands of Southern Californians who have evacuated their homes in the face of raging wildfires are some celebrities.

From Lea Michele to Chelsea Handler, many celebrities have taken to social media to give updates as they try to evade wildfires being fanned by Santa Ana winds.

The blazes, which nearly 8,700 firefighters were battling Friday, have scorched more than 140,000 acres of land.

Comedian Chelsea Handler tweeted that she "just evacuated my house."

She also used the opportunity to make a joke about President Donald Trump. "It’s like Donald Trump is setting the world on fire," she quipped. "Literally and figuratively. Stay safe everyone. Dark times."

Actress Jennifer Tilly apparently had trouble finding a hotel after evacuating her home. "The fourth hotel we tried had a room. Seems like everyone is evacuating the wildfires. We had to go further east," she wrote on Twitter Wednesday.

"Real Housewives" star Lisa Rinna wrote Wednesday that she and husband, actor Harry Hamlin, "are talking what would we take And it comes down to the pets photos documents kid and maybe some jewelry and clothes."

Paris Hilton wrote on Wednesday that her house "is now being evacuated to get all of my pets out of there safely. Thank you to all the firefighters who are risking their lives to save ours. You are true heroes!"

"The Mayor" actress Lea Michele wrote on Twitter that when she evacuated Wednesday she "grabbed what I loved most this morning." She also thanked her "friends for taking us in."
