The nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy popped the question in May and Hines said she was "surprised" by the proposal.

"It's very sweet. There are a lot of people that are excited about it," the actress told People magazine in June. "It feels great because you know you're going to be with the person you really like to be with for a very long time."

Hines also said she comes from a big family too, so marrying into the family just "feels natural."

"When I met [the Kennedys], they were all very genuine and gracious. I was surprised. I didn't know what to expect or who they are. They're the most generous people I've ever met," she told the magazine.

Hines, 48, was married once before to Paul Young from 2002 to 2010. They have one daughter Catherine Rose. Kennedy, 60, was married twice before and has six children.
