— -- Chris Hemsworth may be the sexiest man alive and an A-list movie star, but he's also a committed family man.

"The fame, the parties, the women -- I did that stuff back home," the "Thor" star, 31, told GQ about his native Australia. "I got away with a lot more over there. Then I came here and sort of started over."

Hemsworth was referring to his three years on the Aussie soap "Home and Away," which also launched the careers of Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts, before coming to Hollywood to film 2010's "Ca$h."

About the same time, he met Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky. They married over the Christmas holiday in 2010 and now are parents to a 2-year-old daughter and twin sons.

Hemsworth said becoming a dad worried him.

"Just not screwing it up," he said.

Now, he not only has the fatherhood thing down, he's also overprotective when it comes to little brother Liam Hemsworth, star of "The Hunger Games."

"I’ve watched Liam do things I did at his age, like being in relationships he shouldn’t be in, or being reckless just to prove a point. And I had no empathy. My mom had to remind me I was the same way," Hemsworth told GQ during the interview running in its January issue.

If Hemsworth seems wiser than his years, then it shouldn't be surprising that his BFF turns out to be Matt Damon, who is 13 years older. The two actors and their families even take annual trips to Costa Rica together.

"We became friends around the time I started to work, and I've really benefited from watching how he handles himself," Hemsworth told the magazine. "Matt's just a normal guy who has the movie-star thing figured out."
