Dina Lohan Unravels on 'Dr. Phil'
The Lohan family matriarch slurs and hurls her limbs in new interview.
Sept. 17, 2012 — -- intro: Dina Lohan, the mother of 26-year-old actress Lindsay Lohan, cried and flailed her way through an interview on "Dr. Phil" today, slurring her speech, making fun of interviewer Phil McGraw, and seeming profoundly disoriented while talking about such subjects as her daughter's arrest record.
"Is this like, rolling?" Dina began, looking confused. "I feel like we're on a date."
Later, the 49-year-old mother of four laughed at TV doc, saying "You're like in your little tie, your little shoes."
"I'm being scrutinized by you people ... I mean media," she said, and at one point asked, "Can I go home now?"
It's not clear why Dina went on the show. She and McGraw argued throughout the sit down, bickering over the definition of "inept" and McGraw's ability to conduct an interview.
"Why are you here?" McGraw asked. "I don't know," Dina responded, before asking again, "Are we rolling?"
When McGraw accused Dina of being phony and inauthentic, she raised her middle finger to the camera and smirked.
McGraw referenced a monitor scrolling through Lindsay's substance-abuse related arrests, convictions and rehab stints. Dina dismissed the list with a wave of her hand, saying "If she was living in New York, five of them would be obsolete."
Later, Michael Lohan, Dina's ex-husband and Lindsay's estranged father, appeared on the show via satellite to deny Dina's claims that he repeatedly abused her during their marriage.
After a teaser for the interview came out last week, some assumed Dina was drunk. On Friday, Dina assured TMZ she was not, and said the trailer was intentionally edited to make her look like a train wreck.
"I don't care what it looks like. I'm fine and I don't care what anyone says," she said. "I think the interview will be good. I know what I said and the facts are what the facts are."
Regardless, it's in line with her other lowlights:
quicklist: 1title: The Not-kette text: For years, Dina was described as a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette. Only problem: She's not. In 2007, the New York Post found that Radio City had no record of a Dina Lohan or Donata Sullivan (her maiden name) ever being a Rockette.
quicklist: 2title: The 'Party Mom'text: Despite the hundreds of photos that exist of her hopping in and out of clubs with Lindsay, Dina has denied that she's a party mom. "Oh, the party mom, the party mom, the party mom!" Dina told Harper's Bazaar in 2007. "Whoever said that, my ex-husband or whatever, I'm not the party mom! You throw enough pasta on the walls, some pasta's going to stick, OK?" But in that same interview, Dina also shot down claims that her daughter, who went on to spend five years in and out of court, jail, and rehab following her 2007 DUI conviction, was an alcoholic. "She is just a 20-year-old who had to reel it in," she said. "And she's from an addictive personality genetically."
quicklist: 3title: The ... Mom of the Year? text: Yes, the woman who was voted Worst Mother of the Year by E! was also named one of the top 20 Long Island Mothers of Celebrities in 2008 by Mingling Moms, a social-networking organization for mothers. And what kind of parenting advice could one expect from such a titleholder? "As a parent, you have to let them go a little bit," she said on "Today" in 2010. "When [Lindsay] went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there's no success."
