'DWTS': Amber Rose Axed, Jana Kramer Gets Perfect Score for Steamy Argentine Tango
Eight competitors return next week.
— -- Model and talk show host Amber Rose was eliminated tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” after a lively night during which competitors performed Latin routines, including a steamy performance that earned actress Jana Kramer a perfect score and a standing ovation from judges and the ballroom audience.
Rose’s scores for her routines had put her solidly in the middle of the pack during her six weeks on the show’s season 23, although last week she ended up in a four-way tie for last place. As the contestant with the lowest combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes from last week, she was eliminated tonight.
The model and her pro partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy, hugged, and said she was sad to go.
"I’m glad I had an opportunity for people to see me in a different light," Rose told ABC News after her elimination. "It’s not easy. It’s extremely hard but it was a lot of fun and I’m glad that I did it."
Rose made headlines last week when she took Julianne Hough to task after the judge said Rose’s previous routine -- an ultra-sexy salsa -- made her “uncomfortable” to watch.
Speaking on the dance floor following her Argentine tango, Rose told Hough that she interpreted the earlier comment more as a criticism of her curvy body rather than of her performance, adding: “When you said that I felt very embarrassed, and I felt like you weren’t talking about my dance but if I have misunderstood then I apologize.”
Hough replied that she loved that dance was “universal platform” that allowed everyone -- no matter what shape, age, ethnicity or sexual orientation -- to express themselves. She reiterated to Rose that she was judging “only the dancing.”
Rose's pro partner, Chmerkovskiy, said today on "Good Morning America" he is "very proud" of his run with Rose on this season of "DWTS."
"Everything that I asked her for she did. I pushed a lot. She tried to push back, but just naturally," he said. "I think we came out with a great season. She’s going to have a couple of beautiful dances to look back and be proud of."
Chmerkovskiy said he was also surprised to see a different side of Rose on the dance floor and off.
"One of the beautiful things about this show is you get to find out who the person really is behind the lights and stuff," he said. "I was surprised to find out she is just so chill and down to earth. I was expecting some sort of internet-vixen type of personality and it was far from the truth."
Prior to the announcement of the results, Rose and her eight fellow contestants and their pro partners performed either a rumba, salsa, samba, paso doble, cha cha or Argentine tango.
Miami rapper Pitbull was the guest judge. He opened the show with a live performance of his song “Greenlight,” accompanied by the rapper Flo Rida and singer LunchMoney Lewis.
Tonight’s high scorer/standout moment: Actress Jana Kramer’s pro partner Gleb Savchenko said he hoped their Argentine tango would be the hottest routine in “Dancing” history, and it seemed the pair accomplished that goal: the routine was met with cheers and a sustained standing ovation from the ballroom audience and all four judges.
Judge Bruno Tonioli described the steamy performance -- which opened with Kramer and Savchenko on a silk-covered bed and ended with the two being drenched under a shower -- as “pulsating with lust.” He added that it was “as down and dirty as you can possibly go and I loved every minute of it!” His fellow judges concurred. “Now that is chemistry!” Julianne Hough said, adding: “I think you just, like, set the record for hottest Argentine tango for sure.” Carrie Ann Inaba praised Kramer for dancing as though she meant to “take that mirror ball trophy,” while Pitbull said it was “getting hot” in the ballroom after the routine. Kramer earned four 10s for a perfect score of 40.
