April 8, 2014 -- Ellie Goulding had a unique view of the royal wedding in 2011.

She performed.

"It was the first time I'd done something so completely otherworldly," the singer told Cosmopolitan magazine. "It's not an everyday occurrence. It really made me have extreme gratitude for what I did, how I'd gotten there, and the people around me."

However, her relationships with Prince William and Kate Middleton aren't the ones she's most concerned with at the moment.

Goulding, 27, told the magazine that at this point, her friends are the most important people in her life.

"I [used to] put men on a pedestal. They'd be everything. I decided to remedy that, and that's why I'm single now," she explained. "I've realized I don't need a guy. I've got amazing, awesome, stupid friends in the best way possible."
