— -- Most high school graduates celebrate their commencement by tossing their caps in the air, but at Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire, they do it a little differently.

This epic Taylor Swift-inspired flash mob was the brainchild of valedictorian Colin Yost, who planned out the choreography with his two friends, Georgina Head and Brooke Matthews, and then created an instructional video for the steps of the routine which they shared on the class Facebook page.

“About a month before graduation, I was listening to 'Shake it Off' in the car and thought it would be a great song for a flash mob,” Yost, 18, wrote to ABC News. “More importantly, I also realized the song's message aligned with the message of my speech to 'embrace your inner nerdiness' and be proud of who you are.”

After convincing their administrators into letting them perform the flash mob at their June 12 graduation, the students held multiple rehearsals the week before the big day to really nail down the details.

“While some of our class was hesitant at first, the positive energy and enthusiasm built as people saw how fun it was to all work together to send our message with the dance, and by the last rehearsal everyone was dancing!” he explained.

Congrats to Yost, who will be attending Princeton University in the fall, for pulling off such an elaborate stunt.
