— -- Trent Harmon, La'Porsha Renae and Dalton Rapattoni are the final three contestants on the last season of "American Idol," and all three will compete for America's votes tonight. In some small way they're also a part of television history.

Rapattoni told reporters, "That is history. You don’t think about history as it’s happening unless you get an opportunity like this: the last episode of 'American Idol' -- that’s a historical thing."

"I don’t think people are gonna realize it, but the book is gonna close," Harmon noted, referring to the show's final season. "And then maybe a few years down the road they’re gonna be like, 'Wow, I really miss that show.' So I hope they tune in and watch it."

Tonight each contestant will revisit a favorite performance from earlier in the season and sing two additional songs. At some point, though, one of them will be eliminated, leaving only two standing -- and one will be crowned the winner on Thursday night.

While Renae is considered by many to be the front-runner, she isn't confident that she's got it locked down.

"Trent is a great contender and I feel like Dalton is also really great, with the performance aspect...he’s got the charm and all of that," she said. "So I can’t really say if I feel like the front-runner."

But even if she doesn't win, the divorced mom is grateful that she's been able to inspire women by sharing her story of escaping domestic violence.

"Growing up I always knew that I wanted to...reach people through my music. I never thought that I would reach people through my life experiences," she added. "So, to be able to do that...on such a massive platform, I thank God for the opportunity and I always pray that I never mess it up."

Rapattoni said he can't even think about actually winning, since making it to the top three is "the most ridiculous thing that's ever happened to me."

The final performances take place at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
