— -- The wait for the third season of "The Affair" is nearly over.

Showtime's steamy soap drama returns Nov. 20 and from the looks of the recently released trailer, the triangle between Noah (Dominic West), his ex-wife Helen (Maura Tierney) and the woman he left her for, Alison (Ruth Wilson), continues.

When season 2 left off, Noah had just confessed to a crime he didn't commit to protect both Helen and Alison, whom he married after she became pregnant -- only to later discover the child wasn't his.

Season 3, which is titled "Bad Person," picks up three years later with Noah just out of prison and seemingly on his own. He's suffering from PTSD after his stint in prison -- which we'll see in flashbacks -- and thinks someone is watching him.

But rather than reach out to Helen, who is still carrying a torch for him, he rejects her -- again. "I want you to leave me alone," he tells her in the trailer.

Instead, he chases after Alison, who has since returned to Montauk. But she wants nothing to do with him.

"You and I were a mistake," Alison tells him in the trailer.

Meanwhile, Alison, whose first child drowned, is clearly struggling with being a mother again. Her ex-husband Cole accuses her of abandoning her daughter.

Noah also has a new love interest, a French professor, played by French actress Irene Jacob, who has a mysterious past of her own.

If the first two seasons were about an affair and the unraveling of a marriage, season three is about redemption and the consequences of those actions.
