Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Marry: 7 Key Moments In Their Relationship
Get all the details of how the newly-married couple met and fell in love.
— -- After a three-year engagement, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston have tied the knot, according to People magazine!
It was seemingly the wedding of Aniston's dreams, as she said earlier this year that she and Theroux, 43, hoped to have a private celebration.
"There’s a big discussion in our house right now: Do you just do it and say screw it? Or do you try desperately to get away with [a secret ceremony] where you don’t have any fun because you’re hiding in a cave somewhere?" the actress, 46, told InStyle. "If we could do it without all the buzzing and the noise [that would be nice]. It can be done. When there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Here's how they got there.
Becoming Friendly, 2008
Aniston told InStyle earlier this year that she and Theroux first met in 2008 while she was on vacation in Hawaii and he was shooting "Tropic Thunder," which he co-wrote. "I remember thinking, 'Isn’t he hot?' But he was actually really quiet. I later came to find out that he was just exhausted because he had been writing nonstop, like a little hamster on a wheel," she said. "This was his one night off, and he had no personality, but he was very sweet and very overdressed. I was like, 'You must be really shvitzing up a storm in those jeans and combat boots.'"
Getting Together, 2011
In 2010, Aniston and Theroux, who was dating someone else at the time, "became very good friends" on the set of the 2012 film "Wanderlust," she told InStyle. “We didn’t start dating until the following summer, after he went through a breakup," she added. "Somehow I just saw him in a different light once he was available."
Going Public, 2011
Just a few weeks after they were linked, Aniston and Theroux attended an after party for the MTV Movie Awards together -- their first public outing as a couple. Two months later, People magazine reported that the two moved into a two-bedroom rental home in the Hollywood Hills together while they house-hunted.
Expanding Their Family, 2012
In 2012, Theroux told New York magazine that he and Aniston adopted a Boxer-Pit Bull mix named Sophie together. "She’s the most adorable little cookie you’ve ever seen," he gushed. "She looks like she just smoked an exploding cigar."
Getting Engaged, 2012
After more than a year of dating, Theroux popped the question on his 41st birthday during a celebration in New York City.
Settling Down, 2013
A home at last! In 2013, it was reported that Theroux and Aniston were finally able to move into the Bel Air home that they'd spent months renovating, according to E! News. Eventually, they'd marry on the 12,000-square-foot estate.
Saying "I Do," 2015
Aniston and Theroux reportedly surprised guests, who thought they were attending a birthday party for the actor, with a wedding. People reported that Aniston tapped Courteney Cox to be her maid of honor, while Scott Campbell served as Theroux's best man. Also on-hand for the nuptials, according to the magazine? Lisa Kudrow, Chelsea Handler, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
