Joe Giudice Reports to Prison
The "Real Housewives" star was sentenced to 41 months behind bars for tax fraud.
— -- Joe Giudice reported to prison today.
The reality TV star arrived at the Federal Correction Institute Fort Dix in New Jersey at noon.
FCI Fort Dix is a minimum security prison.
"Joe Giudice surrendered himself to the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix today at 12 p.m. to begin serving his sentence. His brother, his sister and several other members of the Giudice family, as well as myself, were present when he turned himself in to the prison, including [his wife] Teresa," said Giudice family attorney James J. Leonard Jr. "It was obviously a very emotional day, but this is a very strong family with a tremendous support system and they will get through this, just as they did when Teresa was away."
Giudice, 43, who appeared in "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" alongside his wife Teresa, was sentenced to 41 months behind bars for tax fraud in 2014. Teresa, also 43, served more than 11 months at Danbury Federal Prison in Connecticut for the same crime last year.
The two received staggered sentences in the best interest of their daughters, Gia, 15, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 10 and Audriana, 6.
"I'm looking at it like rehabilitation for me," Giudice told People of his prison sentence, calling it "not a big deal." "I am not going to be able to drink for a while which is good because I don't even know when it's been since I haven't had a drink. It's been a long time. Definitely the whole year I definitely drank every day a couple bottles at night just to go to bed."
