Jon Stewart Set to Host WWE SummerSlam
The comedian ended his "Daily Show" run earlier this month.
— -- Jon Stewart has lined up his first post-"Daily Show" gig, and it's not what you'd expect.
WWE has confirmed a USA Today report that Stewart will host one of its signature events, SummerSlam, this Sunday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The partnership may seem strange to a non-wrestling fan, but Stewart actually has some history with WWE. In February, he developed a rivalry on YouTube and on "The Daily Show" with villain and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
It climaxed with an in-ring confrontation between Stewart and Rollins on the March 2 edition of Monday Night Raw, during which Stewart kicked Rollins in the groin.
More recently, Rollins made an appearance on one of Stewart's final "Daily Show" episodes.
Since Rollins is scheduled to compete at SummerSlam, airing on pay-per-view and the WWE Network, this Sunday, perhaps the two will cross paths once again.
Stewart hosted "The Daily Show" for the final time on Aug. 6, ending a 16-year run for the Comedy Central program.
