April 20, 2010 — -- Larry King's divorce has screeched to a halt -- for now.

In a statement to ABCNews.com Monday evening, the veteran media personality's lawyer said that King and his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick, have sought counseling and decided to postpone their divorce proceedings.

"Larry and Shawn met with a counselor today, it was decided that there will be more divorce activity for two weeks as several issues need to be discussed and resolved," Dennis Wasser told ABCNews.com.

There's a chance King will call off the divorce altogether.

"I think he's very worried about seeing his children, being with his children," Susan Carter, who is also representing King in court, told ABCNews.com. "He just loves his kids. That steers it more than anything else for him."

"There's a 50-50 chance this divorce is not happening," Wasser told People magazine Monday. "His focus is on the best interest of his children. It's not clear to me which way he's going to turn on this issue."

Signs pointed to reconciliation Sunday, when King and Southwick were seen walking arm-in-arm at their son's baseball game in Los Angeles.

King, 76, filed for divorce from Shawn Southwick, 50, April 14 in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences" and asking for joint custody of their children.

TMZ quoted King's lawyer, Susan Carter, as saying, "It's a very sad day in Larry's life and he hopes the divorce will be amicable. Larry loves his children very much and will be an integral part of their lives."

Shortly after, Southwick filed her own divorce papers through her lawyer, Joseph Mannis. She also cited "irreconcilable differences" and asked for primary custody of their kids along with spousal and child support.

King and Southwick were married in a hospital room in 1997 just before he underwent surgery to clear a clogged blood vessel. They have two sons -- Chance, born March 9, 1999, and Cannon, born May 22, 2000.
