'The Simpsons' to Feature Live Segment With Homer
He'll comment on the events of the day and answer questions.
— -- Tonight, fans of "The Simpsons" will have the chance to interact with Homer, live.
It's true. Homer Simpson will appear during the final three minutes of tonight's episode. He'll comment on the events of the day and answer questions during both the East and West Coast broadcasts.
Executive producer Al Jean said the live element of the segment will be very exciting. "My philosophy [is] if something goes wrong, that's good, too," he said.
So, how exactly is a cartoon character making a live appearance? It's happening thanks to the actor who voices Homer, Dan Castellaneta, and the magic of technology.
"Fox Sports actually developed this program...it's just Dan talking into a mic and he'll move and Homer will move with him," Jean explained. "I don't think you'd want 30 minutes of it, but for three minutes it's spectacular."
