Singers Rory Lee Feek and Joey Martin Feek arrive at the 48th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 7, 2013.

Country music singer Rory Feek opened up about the private funeral held for his wife, Joey Feek, last Tuesday in Tennessee.

Joey Feek, who performed with her husband as the duo Joey + Rory, died March 4 after a battle with cervical cancer. She was 40.

"In a grove of sassafras trees behind our farmhouse, with friends and family gathered around, we said goodbye to the greatest person I have ever known," Rory Feek wrote in a blog post Saturday.

"Joey's one hope was that she could 'come home' on a beautiful day ... and it oh, it was. The daffodils were blooming, the grass was green and sky was bright blue," he added.

Along with sharing photos of her funeral program, the service and burial, Feek recalled when he took the stage at the funeral.

"When it came my time to speak, I walked up on the stage and stood looking at my wife's sweet picture ... and words were not enough to let her know how much she meant to me -- how much she still means to me," he wrote on his website, This Life I Live.

"And when my time was through and I thought I couldn't cry anymore tears...they played a video celebrating Joey's life that our friends Daniel and Gabe made," Feek, 49, continued. "And my tears were replaced by smiles and laughter and joy and more tears."

The singer also revealed that his wife was buried in "the family cemetery behind our barn."

"It was an afternoon filled with so much joy and love. Even our little Indiana had a wonderful time," Feek wrote, referencing their 2-year-old daughter.

A representative for Joey Feek told ABC News that a public memorial was scheduled for today in Indiana.
