The year 2013 offered yet another 365 days for people to gain notoriety through the Internet. These widely circulated links most often led us to laughter, but this year did come with one exception. A simple "I quit" wasn't enough for Marina Shifrin who left her job with great fanfare. The 25-year-old created a video of her dancing to Kanye West's "Gone" as on-screen captions listed complaints about her boss.

Anyone hoping to hold a wake for this shake was unable to do so in the early part of 2013. The popular dance eventually faded from the Web, but not before spawning plenty of arm-throwing videos shot on land, air and underwater.

VIDEO: Matthew Cordle admits to driving drunk and killing a Navy veteran in video posted on YouTube.

The exception to this year's lighter fare came when Matthew Cordle sat before a camera and confessed to killing 61-year-old Vincent Canzani while driving drunk. Cordle was later sentenced in an Ohio courtroom to six-and-a-half years in prison.
