— -- "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premiered in Hollywood last night, shutting down Hollywood Blvd. and bringing out a who's who of actors who couldn't wait to see the film.

However, what those walking the red carpet may not have known was how much work went into setting up the A-list event.

Since late last week, crews worked tirelessly to set up a blocks-long step and repeat -- and then broke it down in time for Tuesday morning traffic.

It was well worth it, according to those who were lucky enough to attend last night's premiere. The film's cast and creators, along with VIP audiences including Rob Lowe, Eric Stonestreet and Shonda Rhimes, filled three theaters, including the Dolby, the home of the Oscars, and gushed about what they saw after the fact.

"Without spoiling it, I can say that #StarWarsForceAwakens has the BEST final shot of any Star Wars film. Wow," wrote comedian Patton Oswalt.

Added Fred Savage, "Amazing!Amazing!Amazing! In awe. It's all you want it to be. Old/new/funny/heartbreaking. Daisy Ridley is astonishing!"
