Nov. 25, 2009— -- The alligator cell phone charm mentioned in your report is a product from 2007 and is no longer sold or in stock in any Claire's store. As for the Claire's Club handbag, it is not considered a toy and the issues cited are not applicable, or we would not be selling them.
Claire's has its products tested by independent accredited third party laboratories approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in compliance with the Commission's standards.
Claire's has been in business for over 30 years, selling value-priced fashion accessories and jewelry to kids, teens, and tweens, ages 3 to 18 in our Claire's brand stores. We take our responsibility to our customers very seriously, and we are steadfast in our commitment to being at the forefront on product safety issues.
