Jan. 2, 2005 — -- Americans are a pretty fickle bunch. One year Britney Spears is on fire; the next she's the butt of every joke. Those Ugg boots are in; then just when you buy them, they're out.

It's always tough to spot the next big thing before it hits, so "Good Morning America" got a little help from the experts to help you navigate the ins and outs of 2005.

In trend for 2005:
Pink champagne: What all the hipsters will be drinking.

Out trend for 2005:
No more showing off: Outlandish luxury and bling-bling is passe.

In TV for 2005:
Escape to Wisteria Lane: More nighttime dramas like ABC's "Desperate Housewives."

Out TV for 2005:
Forget Paris? The fascination with reality shows may be on the wane.

In technology for 2004:
High-tech simplicity: It's wireless and one-stop technology all the way. That means fewer wires and less stuff to deal with, including jackets and hats with built-in speakers and a television in your phone.

Out technology for 2005:
Mr. Gadget: Walking around with a cell phone, MP3 player and PDA attached to your belt loops is just plain over.

In celebrities for 2005:
The all-in-one celeb package: Lindsay Lohan and Gwen Stefani act and sing, and they're everywhere.

Out celebrities for 2005:
Sorry, Paris Hilton. America is checking out.

In politicians for 2005:
Sen. Barak Obama, D-Ill.: He hasn't even been sworn in yet, but he's already been on the cover of Newsweek.

And the hottest Republican? Bush's brain, Karl Rove, of course.

Out politicians for 2005:
Sen. John Kerry. He ran for president, didn't he?

More of What's In for 2005:
"Toothing": Slang for "blue tooth" technology, which allows you to connect with total strangers via cell phone.

In the bedroom, the "quickie" is back. But then again, so is sleep. Maybe they're connected.

Finally, comfort is in. US Weekly's Katrina Szish told "Good Morning America:" "In 2005, the new going out is going to be staying in. The hottest ticket in town isn't to a loud club, it isn't even to a members only club anymore. The hottest invitation is into someone's home."
