Tiger Woods' Mother-in-Law Rushed to Hospital
Swedish pol visiting embattled daughter taken to hospital from golfer's home.
Dec. 8, 2009— -- Tiger Woods' mother-in-law was rushed early this morning from the golfer's home to the same Florida hospital where he was taken after a car accident two weeks ago, according to an official at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.
Barbro Holmberg, 57, was released about 11 hours after being taken to the hospital by paramedics called to the golfer's Windermere home.
"She is feeling much better and is home," hospital spokesman Dan Yates said today of the Swedish politician. "She was admitted with stomach discomfort this morning."
Yates said her condition was stable and not life threatening, adding that she had been put in a wing that protected her privacy.
Holmberg and her other daughter, Josefin Nordegren, twin sister of Tiger Woods' wife Elin, reportedly came to the United States and were staying at the Woods' home after a host of allegations that the world's No. 1 golfer had been engaged in a series of extramarital affairs with as many as nine women.
Orange County Police confirmed a woman called 911 from inside the Woods' home at 3:25 a.m. today, but would not identify the woman.
The caller, however, told the 911 operator that her "mom just collapsed."
On the 911 recording, the caller is heard realizing that her mother is conscious and breathing.
"She said she – she collapsed, that she fainted," the caller said.
The ambulance to the hospital was followed by a black Cadillac Escalade, similar to the car Woods was driving when he crashed into a fire hydrant the Friday after Thanksgiving, setting of a firestorm of tabloid reports about domestic strife and his many apparent extramarital affairs.
Witnesses said the Escalade was driven by an attractive blonde who bore similarities to Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren.
Holmberg is a Social Democrat politician and the former minister for migration and asylum policy.
The 911 call comes after recent reports that Nordegren may have moved out and purchased a home in Sweden.
Swedish newspapers today reported Woods' wife bought a $2 million home dubbed Faglaro Mansion on a small, secluded island reachable by ferry from Stockholm.
News that Holmberg was in Woods' home early Tuesday morning may shed light on some rumors that Elin had already moved out. According to property records, the $1 million home is co-owned by Woods and Elin. It has eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a "large elaborate pool" and two boat docks on an adjacent lake.
