Breaking overnight on the shooting at a supermarket in indiana. The gunman was pointing his weapon at a third person before police intervened. Abc's alex perez has the latest. Reporter: Good morning, lots of unanswered questions. Police say they acted quickly because they feared the gunman would keep shooting. Shots were fired. Everyone was evacuated. Reporter: They described the pure horror that unfolded inside this elkhart store. My kids were in the car with me at the time. It's a huge crime scene. The area where the shootings happened in the store are basically from one end of the store to the next. There were several rounds fired in there. Reporter: Police say a man entered at 10 p.M. And shot and killed a female employee who appears to be in her late teens OR EARLY 20s BEFORE WALKING Across the store and killing a SHOPPER, APPARENTLY IN HER 40s. The women were found 12 aisles apart. He was pointing a gun at a third person's head when they arrived and they killed him before he was able to shoot again. Thankfully the officers were able to respond fairly quickly. Reporter: Police describe the suspect as a white male in his 20s WHO LIVES IN THE AREA Carrying a gun and large knife was also found near his body. His motive and possible connection to martin's grocery store unknown at this time and while the victims he targeted do appear random police say there are still plenty of questions to answer. We haven't really drawn any conclusions or anything out of it at this point. We do have a lot of things to look at as far as video surveillance. Reporter: The store has video surveillance cameras and they're hoping that will help them figure out what may have motivated the gunman to open fire. Alex, thanks for that.
